A Holiday Away from Home

Last weekend, we went to my SIL's for Easter. We went to their farm where my hubby and first grader would prefer to live permanently, lol! It was nice and not too hot! We only saw two live scorpions and one dead rattlesnake. While we were driving down there, we passed by a farm. I had hubby turn around so I could step out and take some pictures. The white poppy type flowers were gorgeous! This is the entrance from a distance.

Of course, I had to crawl through the fence to see the flowers up close! As far as you could see, they were everywhere!

Along the way (and all over in the county) are drilling rigs. Here in TX and LA, there are many places where oil and natural gas are drilled (all over!)

Right across the street are lots of cows mooing!

Every morning, we took a walk with the dogs down to the pond. My BIL is feeding their fish. They're hoping that next year, they could fish in it.

My SIL made a birthday/Easter cake for my preschooler. We celebrated his birthday at home with family the night before we left but there's always an excuse to eat cake! She let my first grader decorate the bunny's face.

During the walks, I would see this! A big smile as my preschooler asks me to pick him up and carry him back to the house!

And, of course, our eggs after dying them! We have gone away for Thanksgiving before (camping, usually with my brother and nephew) but this is the first time we've celebrated another holiday away from home. It wasn't as scary as I had imagined. Not to self: if bringing chocolate somewhere, don't store it in the trunk or in the back of a truck when the trip takes four or five hours.
